No reason to wait - Get RC3 Now
There's really no reason to wait for the final release of FireFox 3.5. I've been using RC2 this week and just updated to RC3. It's been running flawlessly -- and it has really sped up some websites like the pages at http://www.asus.com which loaded painfully slowly in FF 3.0. Just go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html to download Release Candidate 3. Install it over your existing FireFox 3 application.

A number of your add-ons will report themselves as incompatible. Don't believe it. The vast majority of them are saying they're incompatible only because the "Max Version" of FireFox in their code says "3.0." The vast majority work just fine in FF 3.5. You can easily override the incompatibility message and reactivate the add-ons by installing the extension Nightly Tester Tools available at:
http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly
After installing Nightly Tester Tools 2.0.2, you restart FF 3.5 and then go back to your add-ons. Just right click on each disabled add-on and select "Override compatibility." You'll then be asked to "force install" -- do it and your add-on will be back in business when you restart FireFox 3.5 (this applies to extensions and themes alike).

Now a few folks have written in and suggested that overriding compatibility can play havoc with FireFox. So far we've seen nothing to indicate that on any of our 4 computers that have been running FF 3.5 for over a week. But to play it safe, here's a list of the add-ons that have been running without incident. I think we had to use override compatibility for about 1/3 of them. Since they've been working without incident on 4 computers for over a week, I strongly suspect that overriding compatibility for any of these will not play havoc with your FireFox (at least in Windows XP).
