First, you must define "open source".
My point is many think open source is the GPL and Linux, in my opinion that is not true and "open source" is what we passed around in the local computer clubs two or three decades ago. In other words, open source has been around as long as, and possibly longer than proprietary. The two really are inseperable and in many ways move forward in step with each other.

So, has proprietary moved into consolidation? I would have to say it has, and open source has too.
