Ofcourse NOT
They are not capable of policing themselves, and the GPL is a toothless tiger.

What does the FSF do when they feel Open Source is under threat, thats right they use COPYRIGHT.

They are too scared to put the GPL to the legal test, instead they prefer to use copyright law and standover tactics to get compliance. (ah la Cisco).

But your right anyone with any balls at all can do what they like with GPL'd code.

and its it really boils down to it, they can use the original Linus Torvalds line.

along the lines of "we did not steal Minux to base the Linux kernel on, it contains no original code".

But we DID steal the framework and concept of a proprietary operating system (Unix) and turned it into your "free" version.

So what is stopping someone doing exactly the same as you did with UNIX but instead do it with Linux, and license it however they wish. Anyone who gives up innovation to FOSS or for free, deserves everything they wont get.

And you'll one day wake up to the basic fact that your FLOSS model is fundamentaly flawed.
