Or adopt the BSD license
Or everyone could just adopt the BSD license and stop stressing over what John Doe is doing with their code. There is really no way to keep GPL'd code from being stolen and hidden in commercial/proprietary software anyway, so it's a lost cause. Instead of being paranoid about who might be selling their code, why don't they simply relax and take comfort in the fact that they are offering the same thing, but for free?

If you are willing to put your source code out there, somebody is going to copy it, use snippets of it, and even outright steal it. Don't put code out into the public and tell others what they can and cannot do with it, and expect your wishes to always be honored. That is naive thinking at best, and downright ignorant at worst.

Get rid of the GPL altogether and adopt something that actually makes sense.
