Non-Fiction is about linking, Fiction is not
Dana,

Thanks for the thoughtful piece on e-books. I'm a bit of a reader, have experimented with e-books a little. I'm not a troglodyte, but I need to be convinced. One point, though, that I find important: The content is important. My daily reading online is a constant fight to stay on target. News connects me to facts and fact-checking ensues. Mostly, this is great. Linking over to related (and not-so-related) topics is the strength of the Internet. However, doing that with a novel could really distract from following the storyline. So I offer this thesis. Non-fiction, by all means, hyperlink and connect outward. Fiction, though, not so much. This might effect your connectivity idea somewhat.
