I Would Think the Whole *Point*
of a book is to entertain or inform, and I just don't see how augmenting that entertainment or information by merely linking to outside sources breaks the point; rather, I think it enhances and reinforces it. It's up to the reader whether to follow any of the links or the links' links, etc. The author cannot and should not be held accountable if you suffer from "web-induced" ADD. If you wish to give the main text (and only the main text) of a book your sole, undivided attention, by all means do so; but don't think for a second that every reader is like you.
