RE: Linux and the channel
There is a company called System 76. I have a Pangolin Laptop and I am posting with it now. I love it. The support is great. The hardware was tested by the company to work so I don't have to worry about my hardware working with my software or driver support. Their online community is helpful and friendly.

My linux skills are more than most but less than expert. Basically I know about 30 commands, how to pipe and redirect commands. But I prefer the GUI that Ubuntu provides.

My needs are productivity (open office is great for what I do), Internet (Firefox works nicely), Multi-media (VLC is a great product), and some gaming with Wine. For work I do run VirtualBox with a copy of Windows XP because the PowerPoint slides are not friendly with OpenOffice but pretty much everything works on my Ubuntu laptop.

I don't do a lot of serious gaming through Wine but my needs are met.
