Funny you should compare...
the Internet to our road system. One is provided by greedy corporations while the other is provided by the government. Whopping difference.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. Unless the government nationalizes the infrastructure, big business will choke the life out of the Internet for their own benefit. Bandwidth worries are just a way for them to keep their competition at bay - other content providers.

You can't compare the Internet to the road system as long as corporations have control of the infrastructure. You are right, one is as important as the other. Imagine if corporations controlled the highway systems. These same corporations would then invest in transportation and only their carriers would be allowed unfettered travel.

Government intervention in business is scary. But then we need to approach the Internet not as a business. Rather, it is the means with which businesses can proliferate. But for this to come to its full fruition the control of the infrastructure must be turned over to the government. Otherwise, only those controlling this infrastructure are going to reap its full benefits.
