An enemy of an enemy...
It seems clear that these "crown jewels" are continuing sources of vexation to MS. So why would MS arch-enemy Oracle do anything to reduce this effect?

On the other hand, might MS counter-move by buying some open source vendor (guess who?) of its own. Imagine MS owning a Linux distro and developing proprietary kernel modules....

Regardless, competition is in the wind, and there is no turning back the clock for MS.
