I will say that I'm all in favour of cloud services, and less data being held locally as this makes it much harder for miscreants to abuse technology.

As with the banking industry, we'll see cloud services become more publicly owned as time goes by. In the same way that the banks should not hold the global economy to ransom in the name of their own short term and short sighted gains, cloud vendors should not be allowed to hold people to ransom over their data. FOSS mentality is the only way. Only fools would go with anything MS talks about itself about.
