Just because it doesn't require that ALL applications handle their own updates doesn't mean they aren't getting updates. Package management is one of the KEYS to Linux distributions. They allow a constant stream of updates on a regular basis. When Ubuntu discovered a vulnerability in its SSH package (and resulting Debian ssh package), the fix went out in less than a day. I CHALLENGE Microsoft to do anything similar to that.

Dana, this is an absolutely uninformed post. It's obvious that you haven't done your research, and you and ZDNet should be ashamed to publish something like this. Even accidental lies like this are what keep people from adopting Linux.
