What is Open Source?
I know there is a formal declaration but the emotional "my O/S is better" confuse the issue.

Is all the MS code obtained on the internet free source? Is Google, Office, Apple SDK type addins?

Does the "code" have to be coded? Can math/physics algorithms, ready to be coded, qualify as open source?

As noted I am aware of the formal statement but there is a much larger, but unwritten open source paradigm which many appear to know.

Or, as i believe, can open source be anything i can use and modify?
