Should have went with Ubuntu or Eeebuntu.
Ubuntu comes with Open Office, but you are right with a laptop (no silly, not just a Linux laptop) the bundle is all. The machine should come pre-installed with the stuff you need. Unfortunately these netbook manufacture morons keep overlooking the most newb friendly Linux distro, Ubuntu.

There is much work that needs to be done, but out of the available distro's Ubuntu is more likely to do what average Joe needs with less hassle. More importantly it has the user community to help the average Joe when he needs something special.

These netbook companies are sabotaging the Linux image by shipping crappy distros that lack important software.
