I suggest the endorsement is a statement of political principle.

Though it may not be accurate, open source might be considered an expression of an old principle: From each according to his ability...

And better, open source is a way not to pay large... corporations primarily located in another country.

Socialism and nationalism in a single advocacy. What more could a certain sort of left wing party ask?
