Even Linux is overkill for this task
Anyone could create a small embedded stub with just enough to connect to this service, even MS. Why would someone use Linux and deal with the GPL when it isn't necessary for the bare functionality of this task. There comes a point and time with the device is not a PC but an appliance just like my microwave oven. I don't need to run any os on it, it just runs.

It still has nothing to do with Linux as the author implies; just another evangelist blowing smoke up peoples backside.
