Lo
I formerly used VNC for everything for which I'm currently using LogMeIn (and within my firewall I still use VNC). VNC did the trick extremely well, but LogMeIn does have some advantages, notably:

1. It doesn't care what your architecture is. It gets around the hassle of having to open ports, etc. by initiating the connection to the broker outside your firewall. The end result is that if you have a connection AT ALL you can get connected with LogMeIn. At least it's worked 100% of the time for me so far, and under some pretty draconian conditions, too.

2. It doesn't care what your IP is. Same reason.

3. You can sit down at any java or activeX enabled browser and use it. I carry mine on a USB stick for added privacy. (PortableFireFox). You don't have to carry around an installer for VNC.

4. The basic functionality is free. I sprang for the upgrade, though, because it's worth every penny. And IMHO it beats the tar out of competing services like GoToMyPC.

BTW, GoToMyPC also works on Linux, and it's been around longer and gotten more press; VNC has worked for years and years. And X has been device independent for as long as I can remember. I often run X applications ON my Linux box FROM my Windows box.

Which brings me to the obvious question... why have you waited so long to come to the conclusion that a Linux device can be used as a terminal to another machine? It's only been able to do that since its very inception.
