Lump of Coal or Coke to build the next empire
Although from the past, I do recall in my mind the
perception of comparing Gates to Carnegie. I never
realized the connection all this time, esp. given what you
report (i.e. backgrounds, culture, beliefs, and so forth).
So, it comes to mind that Coke, Coal and Steel seem to run
together for the ages. However, the next turn at
transforming materials into something big will come from
an unlikely slate source. The vision and voice always there
and not exactly new to Gates either, or Carnegie, or for
that matter Lincoln, who taught himself how to read/write
with a lump of Coal on the back of a shovel.
