How is OOO descended from WordPerfect?
OpenOffice.org comes from Star Office, which was first developed in Germany by Star Division (under OS/2, of all things), who sold out to Sun. WP sold out to Novell who sold the WP business to Corel which still sells WP.

Is there something I don't know?
