Yes, we can be grateful to them
and indeed should be. For as long as Sun can afford them, please keep those software engineers employed, and give them free reign.
Its just that creating free software doesn't necessarily correlate with creating income. Its more likely to create opportunities for other "solution provider" contractors than it is for Sun.
