Sun is not a hardware company
> Like jackbond has just said, Sun are a hardware company.

Java is one of the most successful programming language in the history of computing.

OpenOffice is the one and only alternatives to MS Office.

Solaris is the best general purpose operating system.

A lot of the software that you think of as open source has been contributed by Sun. If I had to mention one company as the one that contributed most to the birth and prominence of OSS, I would have to say Sun.

Hardware can be extremely unprofitable, at least compared to software.

...and you want Sun to tell its software engineers, some of the best in the world, to go home!!??

Geee...
