Open source's biggest fear should be the .NET platform. With the speed development must move these days on the web and the web-based RAD tools provided by the platform, open source simply has not answer for it at this time. And it appears this gap will exist for the foreseeable future. If the future is the web and Microsoft provides the best platform and tools for web development, open source will once again have lost a major battle to Microsoft. Honestly, I believe it has already happened.
