Let me play devil's advocate a moment.

They do feel that opening the source is a concession. It's a small concession, true. And while you can't edit the code, I assume this means you can extend the code. If you want to build something which uses .Net, it's going to be easier given that you can see the code.

So Microsoft ISVs and Microsoft VARs may gain some real benefit from this license. This also makes it easier for you to become one.
