Patents are not Property
First: Please if you do not know anything about a topic then do so some research before you start spouting off, its unprofessional to do otherwise.

Second: I will compile a list of the entire US Federal Judicary and have it sent to you as starts in regards to those who consider Patents are both a property right and that it is not a monopoly in and of itself. However, patents can be used as leverage to create monopoly power.

Three: The specific sub-topic to patent law that you're dancing around is where technological standards setting overlaps with intellectual property and/or proprietary rights. This is an area where if one company has intellectual property rights to the technology that is also set as the standard for the industry's technology to operate/function or run then that once company can wield monopoly power because it can exclude every other competitor from the field.

Four: I am one of many people who've dedicated my life's work to the US Patent system so in the future perform some due diligence and contact a few so that they can assist you in understanding and appreciating the issues at play and hear from all sides that way you can do your job of disseminating accurate and informative articles that will enhance and not cloud the understanding of the readership.

Five: Gratis

Six: Ciao
