I'm don't know that I'd say he built that straw man. He starts out by saying, "One of the myths I've heard about open source is that it means "IP is dead" in software."

It's the same argument that OSS advocates have encountered for years in any serious discussion of Open Source vs. Proprietary software, so I'd say he's knocking down someone else's straw man. (Usenet discussions are filled with armies of them.)

I'm glad to see somebody of Brad Silverberg's gravitas making the argument. And he does put his money where his mouth is. To see him go from high-profile Borg to Open Source proponent shows that anybody can reform. wink
