Not all of Novell's problems can be thrown at Nessman's feet.
Really, Novell acquired a 'gem' in the form of SUSE Linux in late 2003, so the move to put SUSE as the strategic technology centerpiece in place has been no small undertaking. Quite amazing, in fact.
It is only starting to take shape now, but, shareholders' stock performance demands take priority, and rightfully so.
You won't see SUSE 'flounder', but you might eventually see a buyout--the question is who?
IBM? Maybe--they make big profits from SuSE and as such would lend stability to Novell's current fragile state.
fyi, SUSE Enterprise Server 10 and SUSE Enterprise Desktop 10 are due out in July (Rumor: June 30?).
OpenSuSE 10.1 is a pretty good advance indicator of what's 'really' going on with SLED and to some extent, SLES.
