A graduated business model is a sweet spot

Those who dont learn from history are condemed to repeat it: "But I suspect they are going to make money anyway. Lots of it."

Equating open source to make lots of money, hoping that people would get excited in open source. Its pretty obvious that its Dana's gameplan.

Giving away stuff is a gimmick that wont last for very long. OSS is past the mid way point wherein they will realize that giving away stuff to attract business will work only as long as they keep giving away stuff. The moment they start charging, it wont continue (same model as the initial web econonmy - where are the pets.com, web grocery businesses etc). Just a couple will last eg amazaon.com,
