George, I am disappointed in you...
Just was I was starting to like you....and you bring back your
imaginery friend David Burke...

Here is a hint. There are no "legal professionals" Either you are
a lawyer, or not. I am lawyer, but in no way what I about to say
should be taken as legal advice.

By the way -- that disclaimer is fairly standard language from
lawyers when they give unsolicted advice. "Mr. Burke" might like
to know. Then again, he doesn't claim to be an attorney.

Now, "Mr. Burke" claims to have "send you this email as I have
just read your article on Tech Republic where Lynn Fox answered
a lot of the questions..."

I read your site through the stand ZDNET interface.

When you go to the TechRepublic.com, you find the same article:

There is one small exception.

Comments from the ZDNET Community are not carried over to
the TechRepublic.com posting.

If "Mr. Burke" was reading this site through TechRepublic, as he
claims, he would not be reading the comment threads from the
ZDNET site.

Now, look at this paragraph:

"I?m not sure what?s going on here George, but I foresee a real
problem coming up. If it is true that Maynor has time stamped
communications showing certain particulars were communicated
to Apple from Maynor, and Apple did indeed work to repeatedly
secure promises from Maynor to send packet captures, the
evidence so far indicates that something beyond the FreeBSD
issue was either discussed, or Apple had a way of making use of
the FreeBSD issue in such a way that although the specific issue
may not exist on Apple products it was a link to something that
was."

Let me highlight one section:


"If it is true that Maynor has time stamped communications
showing certain particulars were communicated to Apple from
Maynor...."

"Mr. Burke" is assuming knowledge of time stamped
communications.

Now, if he was reading this through the TechRepublic site, where
would he get this information?

He wouldn't -- the quote from you saying that Maynor has time
stamped information in his possession can ONLY BE FOUND IN
THE ZDNET comments.

So, Mr. Burke is either lying about coming through you site
through TechRepublic.com, or there is something else going on.

Now, so far I've given you facts and logic. Let me give you one
other thing: reasonable inference.

I can now make a reasonable inference that "Mr. Burke" is a
fictional creation.

As to content, "Mr. Burke" misses the big one.

"Q: Do any of the current patches released by Apple match any
of the characteristics of the information provided by
SecureWorks?

A: No."
