1.4? What? the Fork
George, I'm a bit confused. Correct me if I am wrong, but, I don't see a reference to version 1.4 at the open source Asterisk website.

This is all well and good if you want the whole kit and kaboodle, Digium hardware and all--surely a GUI is a plus!

But it looks like a fork.

For those who care, the free open source version doesn't have a gui.

Be prepared to roll up your sleeves though as configuration is done through Linux terminal CLI.

Set up your own home router-based PBX with SIP for free internet local long distance calling on a supported router (e.g, WRT54G) flashed to either DD-WRT or OpenWRT.

You can opt also to try flashing DD-WRT v23 SP1 'VOIP' which includes SIP at Home SER.

The DD-WRT VOIP flash version removes kaid gaming services in favor of SIPatH.

Since space on your router's Linux O/S is at a premium, you may find there isn't enough space to install asterisk from the OpenWRT ipkg repository.

You can remedy that by enabling in DD-WRT JFFS2 support and setting a mount point in /tmp or a Samba mount point to another local device (USB).

Keep in mind that DD-WRT includes a web interface in addition to telnet/ssh CLI interface, whereas OpenWRT is strictly CLI. One benefit of OpenWRT is that CLI may provide more free disk space for installing apps to your router without necessarily resorting to the above-describes mount point methods.

OK George, Asterisk away, HI HO! wink
