Intel's fake quadcore is unsuitable for server

Woodcrest is a chip that has no place in the market.
For massive clustered environment, people needs floating point performance and AMD's Opteron leads by 38% over Woodcrest in SpecFp_rate2000 (see SUN's press release).

For transactional performance, you need bandwith and large SMP, an area Intel doesn't even have a MP solution.

So, in both markets, Intel is out.

Intel's quad core is two dual core glued together, sharing a 1033MHZ bus. Each core has only 250MHZ bandwidth, only slightly higher than 80486. Completely unsuitable for today's I/O intensive loads.

I told you Conroe time is DELL's AMD time. Conroe was the last straw that pushed DELL to AMD.

DELL will launch 2P and 4P opteron servers.
Expect Intel to suffer massive operating losses in the next 7 quarters.
