Something To It
I have to agree George, Microsoft get rough treatment.

There are two reasons why most people will think this is justified however:
- Having been found guilty of Anti-Trust violations, and while continuing to insist that their Browser is part of the overall MS Platform, Microsoft is not helping its own PR effort to get the user-base over the past.

- Microsoft's product is supposedly way-more mature than Firefox. If you were to argue that Firefox has had the benefit of continuous development and maintenance support over the last two years, while Microsoft have had their developers doing other things - I would agree that levels the playing field somewhat, but not the whole hog. This is why ZDNet's own Steve Gillmor (among many industry pundits) views Firefox as being the 'development team for IE'. If Microsoft is playing catch-up, yet also have a less then stellar product, then they deserve some negative press

Personally, I cannot think of any other major reasons for this difference.

I look at these two things and I see the solution being entirely in Microsoft's own hands. It is their reputation, it is their development effort, that can fix this problem.
