Lawsuit happy
Here in Detroit, there was a 6 year old boy that called 911 to say his mother was not breathing (he couldn't "wake her up"). Twice the 911 operator treated it as a crank call. Needless to say, the mother died and today a $1 million lawsuit was launched.

Is this over the line or is it right IN line? I'm sure that the boy's mother would have provided at least $666,000 worth of support over his next 12 years of life (his cut after attorney fees).

We all heard about the hot coffee incident. After all of the appeals, that person received very little (100 grand minus BIG attorney fees I believe).

Just what to do about "bad" lawsuits? My suggestion is that IF THE PLAINTIFF LOSES, there is another round of deliberation by the jury to determine if this was a frivolous lawsuit (definition TBD). If yes, the people are "punished".
