Beats me why the pundits are looking for a whiteout!

Surely they realise the main game right now is herding as many systems as surreptitiously as possible?

Sure, a few overt infectors will be sacrificed, but unlike the Exxon Valdez you won't (easily) see the globs of rootkits that have or are going be installed before the 10th.

The second order problem after getting a patch is working out how widespread the damage is and cleaning up. This is even more problematic with this perhaps being one of the first exploits with an explosive number of variant payloads. This is a "Really Bad Thing".
