- Tempting, but I will pass

I've considered VoIP several times over the years, but it usually just takes a few phone calls with a friend or relative who is using VoIP before I change my mind! Not infrequently, the conversation becomes a warbling mess. Then there are times we get e-mails saying "We cannot dial out for some reason, please call us." My in-laws are always, it seems, having some issues with their service. And don't get me started on the perils of 911 coverage, though in places that is getting better.
Also, don't forget that with VoIP you become dependent on two services staying on--electricity and broadband.
Finally, in many cases, these folks are saving $20 or less a month. (Think Comcast Voice or Cox.)
Yes, I will admit I'm intrigued by Ooma, but I usually just run down the above list and decide I'll stick with my plain old telephone service. - Posted by: bmgoodman Posted on: 10/30/09 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
