Is the last bulleted list a joke??
That last bulleted list is a joke. It worships
a model, and is not the best tool for the job.

Keep in mind through all this:

-The problem is going to be network congestion.
Therefore steps should be taken to
REDUCE network usage.

"Monitor your VPNs. Make sure folks have them
and that the software works."

VPNs are great for security, but rather poor
when the issue is network congestion. Maybe
some ISPs may prioritize it, but it's not
guaranteed.

In any case, you want to use as little
bandwidth as possible, VPNed or not.

Maybe it's time to use the good old fashioned
idea of letting workers have a few days off
when they're sick.

"Work out desktop support. How will you handle
desktop support for non-corporate acquired PCs?
"

Easy: If the computer isn't owned by the
corporation, tell them to get support at Best
Buy or wherever they got it from.

Not that it's going to make much of a
difference if the network is congested.

"Figure out a thin-client fix. Technologies
from companies like Citrix could be huge."

Thin client? That a joke?

You want people to move from a computer that
doesn't need to be connected to a network to
one that's on 24/7 when the problem is
network congestion?

The network is congested, therefore we
implement a model based on 24/7 network access?

That's a joke.

You're worshiping a favorite model, not
selecting the best tool for the job.
