TiVo sues AT&T, Verizon over DVR patents

Seems to me..Tivo is a bit out of line....

...trying to patent the digital recording of TV programs. Unless I'm missing something I was doing that 14-15 years ago on my home computer. (and that's recording one channel while watching another... it was built right into my video card). The patent seems more in depth, but it seems that's basically it.

However, I will give them the patent on the "Automatic playback overshoot correction system ". That's something I see on my DVRs and it's pretty nice. I don't know if Tivo came up with it first, but's it's a nice feature and if they developed it, they deserve something for it.

Now maybe TIVO could make some more sales if their prices were not so ridiculously high.
$300 PLUS $13/month!... when I can rent a comparable DVR from my cable company (granted not as slick, but almost as nice) for $10/month and no purchase. If my cable DVR goes bad, guess what, I take it over to the office and say 'hey, this is broken give me another one please,' and DONE. Let's see someone do that with a 4 year old TIVO.

Maybe that's why TIVO is trying to fallback on it's patents.
