Congrats on testing the waters

Be sure to check out precentral.net and their forums for realworld user experiences and solutions - as well as the homebrew apps. There is actually a homebrew app store now with 100 apps. But that site and others will definitely help if you run into any snags or want user reviews of accessories. Another ZDNet staffer wrote a piece about being unhappy because his phone shutoff randomly. It was a well known battery problem in some early models but he refused to return it for awhile. I thought that was pretty crazy.
Anyway, good luck. I went back to my Touch(winmobile) for a few days just to see if the Pre was worth it and I was totally miserable. The Pre isn't perfect but it does a lot of things well.
