Newspapers are still clinging to the old model
The bottom line is newspapers are years behind tech blogs and financial blogs. Folks want news that is relevant to their interest presented and analyzed skillfully. Go visit WSJ, talk about messy, some of it is "subscription" some is open, advertisements splashed here and there. NYTIMES same theme, ugh yeah there is a site I will be frequenting...NOT. The Oregonian (near and dear to my heart) I mean did these guys all go to the same "How to build a web page cluttered enough to induce seizures" school? There should be some kind of rule about throwing too many links together on a single page for that one. People don't have time for all this information but the newspapers are still feeding it to them as if they do.
