I agree, as a long time user of Blackberry & the iPhone the limitations of the iPhone are defined only by the hardware they put out as it gets the most out of it through an almost perfect OS.

Blackberry also had an OS that complimented its hardware, but then as RIM desperately tried to play catch up with new competition in terms of hardware, it did so at the expense of upgrading its OS accordingly.

Shame really because I find I rely far more on the Blackberry than on the iPhone.

But good article! I hope somebody from RIM reads this and raises the issue.
