RE iPhone in Business Scenario.
I agree with you that from an administrative
standpoint the iPhone is a logistical nightmare. The
reasoning, no administrative back end. The back end
should allow you to decide what can be and what cannot
be on the device. For WiMo you manage this with
Exchange, and for Blackberries, it is their BES
server.

Now that isn't to say that Apple won't or can't come
up with a back end solution to then compete
effectively in the enterprise world. If they do, then
well maybe they can look at making some gains, but to
make those gains I think Apple will need to be on a
few more networks, than just ATT.

And as far as Palm's Pre device, well like you said we
will have to see if their is some kind of back end
management.

On a personal note, I do use my personal iPod Touch to
suck down my company e-mail. And I like the way I can
manage my tasks, and how I use it in whatever
meetings. I can do this, well because we really don't
use mobile devices in the managed IT realm, well at
least not yet. It just is something that we have said
that we are not going to provide, other than to
certain high priority group. And the closest we get to
managing the devices is just setting up their e-mail.
