Wow, this comment takes the cake!!
It still doesn't change the fact that Apple changed the game with these apps and sent competitors - from RIM to Google - into copycat mode. Both Blackberry and Android phones both now have apps for their devices.

Um, are you kidding me? Seriously, they now have apps for their devices? Brother, just because iPhone 3G introduced app support to the iPhone family doesn't mean that it introduced app support to the smartphone industry. What a laughable statement! Blackberries had app support long before iPhone was a twinkle in Jobs' eye. Android was built from the ground up with app support. Windows Mobile, the OS you love to hate, has had nearly every aspect of it copied by Apple from full screen touch screen to gesture support to app support to copy and paste support to a touch based mobile browser, to multi-media support, etc, etc, etc. Even the el cheapo Nokia I owned 3 years ago had app support. In fact, that was a noticeable omission from the first iPhone. Here was a $600 phone and you couldn't install anything on it!!!

Thanks Sam, I'm going to have to go pour myself a new cup of coffee since this one mysteriously found itself splattered all over my monitor!
