- Cause was a moral fialure, not financial.
- Unbalanced balance sheets had absolutely nothing to do with the current global financial mess we are in. What happened is that bankers lied to potential borrowers and saddled them with loans they could never hope to afford, borrowers lied to bankers about their incomes, and bankers lied to investment banks about the stability of CDOs. Is it any wonder it all collapsed? It's a complete and utter moral failure. We don't teach morals any more, only that we are animals(aka Darwinism). Although our pledge says "One nation under God", our president says we are just "a nation of people". If we are just animals or just "a nation", you can justify telling a lie on a regular basis. Our president can throw trillions at this mess, but until you deal with the fundamental moral issue, it will never get resolved. If data is not reliable(aka lies), your software models are worthless.
