black listed for me
I've been screwed by Sony on three different occasions. Once, I got an expensive digital telephone that was full of static, dropped connections, and overall poor quality until it died. "Customer service" blamed my house for being too big (too floors). Go figure.
Another time was a webcam that included drivers for Win2000 only. When winXP came out, they offered a driver *update*, no full driver via their website. At that point I had lost my original driver CD (who keeps them anyway?) and I couldn't install the driver. Camera trashed. Don't get me started on Linux driver support.

Another blow was my Sony Ericson cell-phone. I live in Europe and regularly write texts using 4 different languages, which where not included. Their region coding (kind of DVD coding) didn't let me install firmwares with dictionaries other than the ones they *think* I must use. In the end I had to install the DaVinci firmware, with all required dictionaries, which cost me 10 euros and voided my warranty. Cellphone keypad became useless after two years and went to trash.

Their customer support didn't provide solutions, and I've had enough with them. Add to that the rootkit approach to piracy, global crisis, and lack of customer care, no wonder why they are not selling.

They have good technology and products. But nowadays consumers are smarter and competition tighter.

I won't be buying a Sony product ever again. I wish Sony engineers all the best for their great work, but I hope its management got rotten in their greed.
