They are going to have to do much better if they want to survive. Look at some of the major financial news events of the last few years. The print news media has been way behind the free and subscription specialized news blogs that are out there. People want news that concerns them, and they are increasingly going to specialized sites to get information and analysis they want. Delivery is going to be instant and tailored to each individuals tastes. People will pay for specialized news delivered rapidly by writers that have proven themselves to the reader. Print news has been caught off-guard by this rapid change. It won't mean news will die but certainly the traditional way of gathering and delivering news is on it's last breath.
