Bill Joy: Fascist?
Bill Joy is asking for the government to require the use of products of venture capital funded companies. The purpose of a venture capital company is to make money (lots of it).

This is worse than socialism. In socialism, at least the taxpayers notionally own the enterprise. This is fascism, as the government decides corporate winners and losers, but the winning capitalists continue to make money.

I think many working-class people would like the financial benefits of a government forcing people to buy their employers products. But when the world's finances are collapsing, and unemployment projected to hit double digits soon, it is hard to fathom a venture capitalist asking for the ultimate government handout: the force of law on the people to buy the products of the company he funds, so he may become even richer.

Someone please speak some sense (or at least some P.R. skills) to this man.
