The problem for Microsoft is that all of the margins go away in the cloud.
At least the kind of margins that Microsoft has gotton used to. Microsoft is used to the 100 dollar per PC windfall, and the Office windfall. We are talking billions per month. So, sure, Microsoft can be a great competitor in the clouds, but, you can bet they will be doing everything they can to keep dependencies on the client OS, and of course MS Office. But, I do not see that sustainable long term. The cloud will render the client OS and the Office suite irrelevant.
