Has everyone forgot the wildcard redirect in DNS? Verisign can't be trusted to design a new internet because its design would "coincidentally" lock in Verisign's incumbency and enhance Verisign's revenues.

Imagine the feeding frenzy at the committee meetings with telcos, cable companies and Hollywood all angling for a piece of the action.

You know whose interests would be ignored? Right, as usual.
