converter boxes hard to use
My dad (86) and his neighbor (90+) find the new converter boxes hard to use. Using a remote control is almost impossible for them. The neighbor keeps hitting some button which wipes all the programming on her box, which gets NOTHING after that. The converter boxes needed to have a simple hook-up with a way to simply turn a dial and change channels the way it used to be, no programming modes available.
These people enjoyed free television with no hassle all their lives, now we're asking them to downgrade to a crappy signal that is hard to figure out how to tune in to. Go figure.
Maybe a better idea would have been to leave analog in place, and have digital as a secondary option for over the air for ten or so years to allow people to get new equipment and get used to it. I'm sure the airwaves aren't all that clogged up with stupid cel phone signals and wi-fi and all that, or if they are, we need to stop that, and have the airwaves back for analog radio and television.
