I love the cavalier tone of this article. The switch wouldn't affect me negatively if it happened right now, so let's just do it already!

Your writing completely ignores the fact that the government bungled the handling of the voucher program. Many of us poor and elderly people you mentioned didn't put this decision off because we're lazy, we put it off because it's a difficult extra expenditure to make, especially before the Christmas season. And doing so without the help of the voucher would be impossible.

But if television, which has been nearly ubiquitous for decades becomes unaffordable for the bottom six to twenty million households, so what...it doesn't affect you, right?
