Leadership
I found it interesting that the article overlooked one of the most important communication skills of an IT leader: Leadership.

Yes, leadership is in fact a communication skill, at least in my career experiences. How an IT manager, director, or CIO demonstrates their leadership directly communicates the thoughts, plans, and motives of the IT leader to their team.

Have you ever watched your manager or CIO during a critical time, such as a major systems outage? Their leadership style and skills speak volumes to the team. The decisions you make and how you carry yourself as a leader says more to your team than your ability to listen, be empathetic, or build relationships.
