No Desktop Synch?
I really like what I've seen of the Pre; I've had Handspring/Palm phones since the Visor and never had any major complaints, so I was an easy sell, but the interface and form factor of the Pre just look perfect.

However, in all the glamor of Pre's ability to synch everything from the 'cloud,' it seems like they've completely abandoned the desktop! What about my Outlook at home, where ALL of my important contacts, calendar data and notes reside? What about my docs that I write on the Treo, now, and synch with earlier versions on the desktop, then go back on the Treo and edit some more? In a lot of ways, my Treo takes the place of a laptop for me, and nothing that I keep, access or edit on it resides on the Web, nor will it ever.

It's already bad enough that my only choice is Sprint, meaning I won't be able to even use a Pre until an unlocked GSM version becomes available, but I think Palm is ignoring one other advantage they already have by tossing out desktop synchronization along with the old OS. Just this one thing may not keep it from being an iPhone killer, but it DOES prevent it from being a Treo killer.
